• March 2001 Revealing MSA Report on what Professor's of Clinical Psychology have found to be "toxic entertainment" of emerging Death Metal Music specifically marketing to young children in Australia. Includes reports on Death Metal related murders and resulting emerging Youth Culture.

MSA Note: A female 'JJJ' Radio Announcer (30/03/01 10:16pm) said quote "I'm not too sure what's on this next one....I hope it's not too bad." The next one was more offensive than the first.....and she was clearly lost for words. Makes you wonder huh?.....comming from a Government funded Radio Station.

• September 19, 1985 saw a U.S. Commerce Committee Hearing headed by U.S. Senators and including U.S. Vice President’s wife, Tipper Gore as a witness saw how certain types of music was affecting her own daughter.

• On Thursday, November 6, 1997, there was a U.S. Senate Subcommittee hearing "How does it affect our youth" An examination of The Impact of Violent Music Lyrics on Youth Behaviour and Well-Being in the District of Columbia and Across the Nation".

Those at the hearing were :-

C. Delores Tucker, The National Political Congress of Black Women

Hilary Rosen, Recording Industry Association

Raymond Kuntz, Parent.

• A number of bands were named such as Cannibal Corpse, Marilyn Manson, Prodigy and The Beastie Boys. It seems however, that the Beastie Boys have taken the initiative and re-invented their acts . An article in the West Australian Sunday Times says that "The Beastie Boys recently shocked the music world when appearing at a festival with English techno darlings the Prodigy - they asked their peers not to perform their controversial hit single Smack My Bitch Up".

• The Beasties strongly objected to the song’s anti-woman sentiments- this from a band that used to perform with a giant inflatable penis and girls in cages on stage.

• "We have been doing this for a long time now, since1981 when I was only 15, and during that time I have seen what a tremendous effect that words and music have on people’s lives," Yauch said.

• "You have to take responsibility for what you are doing. Now I know in the past, we have done some not-so-cool things, but in that incident we just wanted to personally explain to the Prodigy that we had an objection to that song and what it was telling people."

• The message is….. no-one wants censorship especially in the music industry, however it is about time that musicians started to take responsiblity for what they do.
