Computer & Video Game Classifications for Western Australia
General: Some types of Computer & Video games are Strictly Regulated in WA. Specific reasons why can be found by following this link.
Warning: It is an offence in WA to have in Private possession, Computer/video games that contain:-
Extreme Violence, use of sexually explicit language, encourage crime or drug abuse.
General (suitable for all ages). The classifiation is suitable for young children and they do not need parental supervision.
Parental Guidance (parental guidance recommended for children under l5).This symbol warns parents that the computer and video game could contain scenes which may be upsetting or confusing to children and that adult guidance is advisable.
Mature (suitable for people 15 years and over). This category must carry clear warnings that the material contains elements that could disturb or distress children under 15.
Mature Restricted (Legally Restricted to people 15 years and over). This classification may not be sold, hired or demonstrated to anyone under the age of 15.
Warning: It is an offence in WA (check other states of Australia) to undertake the following:-
The playing of MA 15+ games in public.
The sale or hire of MA15+ games to children under 15 years of age.
